That's awesome and all... but my nose barely worksDude and the nose on her is so pleasant.
Smells like candied lemon meringue pie without the hazelnut.
Such a pleasant aroma

A super-cool surfboarding chicken with great style. One heck of a pecker...That's cause you're a chicken right?
That’s why I plant my seed sideways. I can’t always see the “butt”. This way they just right themselves. What kind of stop you using?Tonight is day 5 and still just the one has popped. It's acting funny too but it emerged before I started turning on the lights at 2.5 days. I've got another that seems to have wanted to sprout but it was upside-down. Several others appear to be doing something. I've removed the little stopped I stuck in the hole to get a look.
As a side by side to see what's going on, I planted 10 seeds that I've had for almost 2 years. NASC's $2 seeds Gelonade X Blueberry Cupcake.
I'll get some pictures added later.

I just pull a little hunk off the bottom to barely plug the hole. Give it a little something to help pull off the husk. That’s why I plant my seed sideways. I can’t always see the “butt”. This way they just right themselves. What kind of stop you using?
K please splain Lucy, cuz I’m failing to follow! You’re tearing off a plug from the bottom of the plug to plug the opening the seedling would come out? Is this to prevent helmet heads or you mean pull the husk open?I just pull a little hunk off the bottom to barely plug the hole. Give it a little something to help pull off the husk.

Yeah that, and it helps keep the sprout from just pushing itself out before taking hold. You got itK please splain Lucy, cuz I’m failing to follow! On your upside down beans, they won’t right themselves but rather the leaves below will rot.I think a couple of these beans came from down-under. Can I right this wrong or do I just let 'em try to figure it out.

I've never had this happen before and now it's happened twice. Thrice if you count that curly-cue Gassy Cream Cake.
Here's that bunch. 7 days from planting and only 2 have broken the surface.

Looking like they don't have much time before the other beans take the cake. I would expect them to show up by tomorrow evening.
All of the new seeds seemed much more mature than what I've planted of Redbeards. All but one were darker brown with thick heavy tiger-stripes whereas I haven't had one RB with stripes. Luck of the draw? Do some strains never developed the striped seeds?

Awesome, bro. That's a good rundown.Never seen the issues you're dealing with on the germination part but as a part time pollen chucker this may help.
IDK how other breeders do this but I can show you what I do.
This pic is the seed harvest from my Haunted Banana F1. After getting the husks off it's a real mixed bag of colors.

This is where a pheno hunt begins for me.
There's both light and dark tiger stripes, some with only 1-2 stripes, some brown with no stripes, and white all from the same mother and sometimes the same flower.
Color likely depends on how early the pistil was pollinated and genetics crossing or not crossing over.
From here I do a test germination of 15 seeds of each type/color except for the whites. The whites are underdeveloped and honestly, sad to look at and nobody wants those so I try to sift them out.
The dark and lighter striped seeds usually pop at 100%. These are what I send out and prefer to work with but if I send out say 100 seeds there will be everything but white in there.
The lighter brown seeds without stripes are at around a 80-90% germ rate. This was an issue with many of Bodhi's strains as they were always on the light side, no stripes, and germ rates around 80-90%. I believe he was a chronic early chopper
When I take this to F2 I'll drop a split of tigers and no tigers looking for phenos between the two. Generally, tiger stripes lean toward indica and no stripes lean toward hybrid and sativa but there's no guarantee there. However, the more stable the cross develops, the more consistency there will be in harvested seeds and depending on the chosen phenos will produce either all tigers or all brown without stripes
That sounds like surgery. Like some delicate procedure.i'm not sure what you "should" do but if they were mine i would intervein and right those two upside down sprouts. take them out and slice another rooter right down the middle and lay it in and band the the two halves together. like Granny said, they will not correct themselves at this point.

I done iti'd try to gently tear it open with my fingers.. only use a knife if you need to. if it don't tear try to bend and slice the plug the best you can, kind of like when you're cutting the plastic insulation off of cable without cutting the individual wires inside.. bend a little and just press the knife, rock it back and forth versus slicing. you know.... gentle..
I done it
