Grump's Gassy Cream Cake Grow 🌱

Tonight will be 5 days and if there's nothing in there when I get home, I'll add a few more beans, just in case. I think I'm out of the Shiznits, though, so I don't know what I'm gonna do...

It's been nearly a month since I harvested... I should have some plants in the system by now.

Hey shyooot.. I found a little T fitting while looking through all my crap. I broke a fitting for my pump and was digging for something to fit that and voilà.. I'm tapped into my water line headed to the fridge. It was a 5 minute hookup and it's not bolted to the wall and filling my drum. Hell yeah. Only took 10 minutes to get some RO goin'.

I'd prefer RO/DI too, know exactly what is going in the water and its cleaner

Yeah why I like clear containers too but roots don't, al though didn't seem to be an issue when I grew in those clear solos, but how would one tale?

Still no signs of life this morning.. I didn't add any beans to the dome or even go through my stash. I'm pretty sure I'm out of the Lemony Shiznits, though. Looking like I'll have to edit the thread name again.

It's been a month or more since I've had anything in the tent. Kinda sad, really. I'll get it figured out though. Another round of failures and I'll get some different grow plugs. I know everyone loves the VG but I just feel like I get better roots with the plugs. I'll go back to the GH branded ones. Rapid Rooters, I think they were called.

I am excited to get my electrical ran this weekend. I'll start on that tomorrow and I'll have Monday and Teusday to finish up and get some bleach running through the system. I also need to send my exhaust out the basement window, but that should only take a few minutes. Man I'm ready to grow, though.

That one Dalato plant is fan-fuckin-tastic. I was actually able to keep 60 degrees in the dry tent and I think that was the kicker. It's so flavorful and smooth. I've been able to see improvements in every successive grow so far and I'm loving it. I can't wait til I've got the experience of some of you folks that have been doing this for a lot longer than myself. I'm so glad to have taken up this hobby. Thanks again for bringing me here, @steamroller. Couldn't have done it without my fellow BudBuilders.

i feel for ya man, i know just what that feels like, it was just last year when i was killing three rounds of seedlings.. and i was starting them by the dozen! entire packs that i'll never know what they're like. that went on from sept till mid october..

so i get it man!!

i've had terrible luck with generic plugs in the past. before i got into aero cloning i used plugs. the GH rapid rooters never failed. i believe they are not all created equally.

I don't think a VG would solve your problem.... been a while since i saw your seed starter, it's heated correct? you have it over 80° yeah?

Don't toss them. Try cracking them yourself and see what happens. I've had to do it a few times, its been worth it too

Bite them like sunflower seeds, just gently is all.

I'm just getting hella ansty 🤣
I won't fret too much on the lost beans. It's more of a feeling something like failure. I'm not worried or anything but there's that lingering feeling of not accomplishing a goal or simply being unsuccessful. Beans WILL pop though. That's for sure. It's just a matter of when.

I'm using these and they don't seem "generic" but I may have just fallen prey to the flashy packaging. I never learn.

Yeah I'd say between 82 and 88. If I see <82 I turn it up and >88 I turn it down

Meh.. It's just a precaution and bleach really cleans the gunk off the inside of the lines so I'm assuming it's good for my chiller as well.

Only problem with that is I'll probably wait 3 more days before giving up again and I'm feeling the itch man. I wanna get some damn plants going *stomp *stomp

I’m just shocked! I just knew these would pop for you as I seriously have never had any problems with The Capts seeds. I wrote him this morning asking if anyone else has had any problems. Let ya know what he says.

I wouldn't blame him, for sure. Not just yet anyway.

Stoney mentioned having used the same plugs back in '16 and they were bunk apparently. I'll keep trying with what I have, but I've ordered the same plugs I was using previously.

I will say though... this last pack didn't contain very attractive seeds. Pretty pale. No striping. They were a pack of freebies, though.

I'm not frustrated with anything but my time-line. After a little over a year of growing, I don't like seeing my tent empty. Makes me feel empty 🤣

I'm kidding. Listening to my little daughter sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star has my cup pretty full this morning. She's growing up so fast and I couldn't be more proud of her. She's so smart and sweet.

I do a 24 hour soak. Fifty percent water fifty peroxide. Getting ready to soak some today and plant tomorrow. As soon as I figure out what I’m growing, that’s the prob. Choices choices!

This is, and has been my process too. I did have a stretch where every seed I tried would either not crack or would pop up and damp off.
That lasted about a year. Some of them were seeds purchased (no guarantee of quality), as well as bagseed.

I've since been able to have successful grows from seeds of either source.


I couldn't tell you why things went bad, nor why it stopped about a year ago.
I thought I was messing things up, but things went right just as rapidly as things went wrong.
Is there a bad batch of soil or soil related products in the pipeline? Is it just coincidence? Is it delusions on my part? I don't know, but it sure seems odd that people that are really competent at growing, all of a sudden have problems just popping seeds. Something took place.

Well he sends out cards with every order suggesting that the seed is pre soaked as they have very hard outer shells. I just automatically do it. If you ordered these from him and did not receive the growers tips let me know.
I also plant my seed sideways as I can’t always tell which end is the “butt”. It rights itself, no probs.
I hope soaking and the new plugs make a difference, I want you to enjoy some of this good stuff too!

That is the most full/ fool proof method I have ever heard.

I know from many photos of the VG in use and my that they will right themselves.
If they only put in possibly half the effort breaking surface correctly it is a bonus moving forward.
 
i saw a valve on tv sized for your hydro system!! :D

that was actually for their rain collecting. Marty said every time it rains one inch they collect seven tons of water!! thats over 1500 gallons!!! 😮

We just bought a bunch of those for work and, at 2 inches, they were over $300 apiece. That sucker right there is like a $500+ valve...
 
Had to replace my well controller 15 minutes before the hardware store closed.. barely made it.

Got the hydro set up and and running bleach. I'm pretty sure the grow is completely ready minus a quick batch of H202 when my RO fills back up. I'll neutralize the bleach with some H202 and then I'll fill it back up with pure RO/DI and start inoculating my bennies while I wait on some seeds to pop. New plugs should be here Wednesday so I'll drop some then. Sill gotta decide on the strain.

I'll try to figure out how to get a video of the setup posted in the morning. I'm pretty pleased with the "temporary" conditions. I say "temporary" because there will eventually be two rooms built in this area plus a little RO/water closet.

I was able to get a short clip of what I've been working on. The tent is all set up and ready for some green.

I was able to reuse my valve manifolds from the last setup. Still 2 suctions (top-off, control res) and 3 discarges (plant sites, control res, drain). Not being crammed in a closet this time allowed me to build a bigger workbench.

I love the building phase of all this and this may be my last setup before going with some permanent rooms. I'll run this setup for a couple grows. Long enough to afford an additional setup and all the building materials.

Don't worry. I got the first flood out of the way early. Started filling the system to run some bleach, lit a doobie, and I guess just forgot I was running water. I'm sitting on the floor RIGHT THERE as water started spilling out of the plant sites...
 
Haahahaha..I did similar not once but twice.lmao..i have problems just turning one off one tap lol..I started filling up my spare bucket for nutes from the 5000 litre tank outside…went inside and pigged out and never came back out till nxt morning 🤦‍♂️.
 
I have mentioned before how I have flooded my basement multiple times.
So glad my space is not in the house.
Mistakes will happen.:oops:
 
i dumped a couple hundred gallons on my basement floor at least five times now... same as Max, left it on came upstairs and got sidetracked! i always have an emergency pump handy!!

Fried another well pump controller today so now I'm assuming I've got a short in my pump. There's only a 150 ohms between windings at the controller.

Surely my RO system isn't causing this, right? This all started happening when I hooked up the RO. I would think the pump should be able to handle the 20 psi bandwidth on my pressure tank, regardless of how often it needs it. Was this inevitable or is my RO gonna take out my new pump as well? Sounds ridiculous.

How long does your RO run?
Is it constant?
 
I know some stuff about this maybe I can help.. When your RO is filling for two days is your well pump still cycling on and off at the controller? Another wards is your RO filling off of your bladder tank and that fils and empties normal? You mentioned getting a new controller, it just points inside like an antique car right? Did you adjust these at all? When I get home later I can post ya some pics.
