I once worked for my hometown's first local dialup ISP, which was based at a military highschool academy. Boy was that a trip, helping people configure all the settings to connect, we've got it made now.

What i miss most about those days are my local BBS sessions. Oh man that was cool. Just a free local call, 25 dialup nodes and 10 telnet nodes, which was also hosted at the academy. One bolt of lightning at 1.21 gigawatts to the telephone line was enough to fry it all and was never replaced as there was no profit in a free BBS.

When we bought the house and moved I dropped my BBS. We had just started making money on it for a few years when the internet started to take off and kill business. Fun while it lasted. Learned a lot.

I had 1200 baud and lower. I owned an 8088 before the 8086.

Does US Robotics still exist? They used to be top shelf equipment.

Man that brings me back.. we had an 8086 ibm compatible back in the day. Used to love playing Terminator 1, first open world game i remember. You could play as reese or arnold. Drive around, Rob stores, etc... way ahead of its time

sucky funeral man.. i'd almost rather court. i didn't know her that well but i'm close to her brother.

Idk first place my mind went too lol

Hopefully nothing more morbid.. i got a funeral to to to next month at a military base Uncle, lung cancer.

this was a tragic one too man, she was set to retire in three weeks. spent her entire career as a girls basketball coach at a local college. she was only 65.

sorry to hear about your uncle. military funerals always hit me harder.
