When we bought the house and moved I dropped my BBS. We had just started making money on it for a few years when the internet started to take off and kill business. Fun while it lasted. Learned a lot.I once worked for my hometown's first local dialup ISP, which was based at a military highschool academy. Boy was that a trip, helping people configure all the settings to connect, we've got it made now.
What i miss most about those days are my local BBS sessions. Oh man that was cool. Just a free local call, 25 dialup nodes and 10 telnet nodes, which was also hosted at the academy. One bolt of lightning at 1.21 gigawatts to the telephone line was enough to fry it all and was never replaced as there was no profit in a free BBS.
