Grump's Kitchen Sink Grow 🌱

Only downfall I see is the hole size at the bottom. Too big for my pebbles. We'll see how it goes.
As long as they fit and as long as there's free returns if they don't fit, I'd do it!
Haha.. you were talking about filters.

I was excited about the netcups fitting so perfectly..

I'll check on the free returns.

IDK how many you got but if only a few use a small tie wrap to go across the big middle bottom hole. If that’s the only one too large.

Just dropped 8 beans for my hydro mother project. Most everything will be ready for a trial run tomorrow. Just be waiting on the tent after that.

These could be the last beans I drop for A WHILE. Just assuming 8 grows... that's like 3 years of clones runs.

2 popped already after only 2 and a half days. Blue Cheese and the Indigo Sapphire. Record time for me, considering I just stick the seeds into a wet plug.

These guys haven't stopped stretching. 4 weeks??
Makes me wonder if that 3 days of 12/12 then an accidental spectrum reversal and back to 18/6 for 2 days really threw them off. No herms so fuck it and hammer down.
Flipped on Sept. 16th and they still grew 2 inches since yesterday morning.
As a group they're chugging down 5 gallons per day of some 6.1pH/780ppm superjuice.

Gonna be a lot of weed in there. Looking like it'll be my biggest harvest if things keep on truckin'.

Well I may have spoken too soon. They hardly drank today and didn't grow a bit since this morning. Hoping that's a sign of fattening up soon.

Motor Punch made an appearance today as well...

I halfway expect a couple more when I get home from work in the morning.

-------

And then there's this...
I made a sweet little stand for the mothership.
All free parts from the dumpster at work.
Extra parts included for expansion 👍

Hell yea!

Fuck them back problems, lol.

Can't wait to see how you run this system.

Could do a "ebb & flow" or just straight up Recirculating water.

My immediate thought is, isn't this for "moms?", seems/appears a little small for moms?

BUT

it depends how long you intend to keep said "moms" in system, for clones to feed the flower room.

Gave me an idea of running PVC similar to this and shooting high density nutrient flog clouds into it, a fan and ultrasonic disc resevoirs, working similar to how drive through banks work, put a tube in and its sucked up, similar concept to a ultrasonic fog injection system, but not as strong or fast, something I want to experiment/play around with.

Too wet imo, my honest 2 cents, that rooter LOOKS, 2 ME, too soaked, that's why it's so yellow, ofc it can come out of it though.

Sorry if I'm pushing my self too much into your threads with my "IMO",s I just don't have a grow going and miss it so much, and again, if im wrong, I'm wrong, it furthers mine and anyone else's knowledge in the field, and just want to further learn and verify.

Yeah the plan is to just recirculate. RDWC minus the D. This shit ain't deep 🤣

Here's the basic plan...

Pump will sit outside the resevoir. Suction side piped into the bottom of the res and the discharge from the manifold will drain back through the 2 inch outlet.

Valve on the 1 inch inlet to the manifold to regulate flow and another valve on the 2 inch discharge pipe. These valves working together should keep it from flowing too fast and also allow a little bit of a water level inside instead of just a simple current. The discharge valve will allow for more flow than the inlet valve so it show be relatively easy to dial in.

This is just an experimental project. I'm absolutely wanting a mother setup, but I desperately want to avoid soil. I've been trying to figure out the best way to do it with hydro.

I want to find out how long one could stay in this system. I'm not gonna pamper them by any means. Not going for amazing growth. I'll basically never change the nute concentration, leaving a pretty low EC, and I'll do minimal training.

My plan is to continually check the roots. When they start getting tangled with the plant next to them, I'll pull out the mother and drop in the clone. I'll be finding out an average time in the system and start rotating clones in for mothers that are outgrowing the system. Maybe every 2 weeks, or every month, a mom gets replaced. Something like that. It might turn into a lot of work but it will allow for endless clones of multiple strains. Eventually, maybe sooner than later, I'll start doing multi-strain runs with the intent of weeding out cultivars and replacing them with something new. Keeper strains will be kept as long as possible.

Hell.. I could even expand this to allow space for all the mothers and the next round's set of clones.

This actually sounds really cool. The current from my water is something i'm worried about with this setup. Will it be too much?? We'll find out.

Blowing fog through this thing would be sweet.

You might be right but I literally can't squeeze out any more water from the plugs. They look about the same as all my plugs in the past. These plugs are hella old too. First batch of plugs I bought more than 2 years ago. Still poppin' beans though.

I'd say that yellowish looking color is because they are freshly emerged. They'll get some green to 'em after they spend some time in the light. I'll snap a pic in the morning. They'll be green.

You're good bro. No worries here. I'm always down for advice, whether or not I take it. Perspectives are important.

These threads are more than just a catalog of grows. They serve as great learning material for beginners. Sometimes I leave out some simple details that may not be so simple to someone else. I've been finding this out discussing resevoirs and water chemistry with Stoney through DMs.

I used to include every minor detail, that way people had reference material to answer any questions that came up. As my growing improved, I had less questions and eventually started leaving out some simple details like what I think my water is doing when I see a ppm drift or something like that. Eventually I figured people would ask if they needed that info, not realizing that someone may not even know what questions to ask to solve a particular issue. You don't know what you don't know until you need to know it.

i believe this is called a nutrient film technique. NFT

Growing up home hydroponics was all the talk. TV shows like space or deep sea subs all had them onboard. Your setup reminds me of that. I so want to go there but it’s never going to work in the house. To much humidity as it is most of the year and no where to setup with easy water access.

Kits are usually to expensive so building my own was always the plan. So I get to vicariously live through your efforts. 👊

I haven't found a lot of info on keeping mothers in hydro. I've had a few ideas but I already had most of the parts I'd need for this one. It'll be a lot of fun to get going. Most of the beans are ready for their new home. All but 2 have popped up and joined the party.

And I guess I was wrong...
These babies ain't slowed down one bit. 5 more gallons down in the top-off and another inch on the colas since this morning.
