And you blamed that poor bunny rabbit !!!

i thought the same thing... poor bunnies, i was gonna public apologize but they wouldn't hear me.. instead i'll let them live under my sheds with safety!!!! i'm kinda glad i saw it for myself.. for years we had no rabbits and then a few years ago i saw a couple and made them comfortable, now we have a bunch and they never caused a problem. i'm glad it wasn't them... the deer now.. well fuck what do i do?? i'll never find that same fucker.. oh well they won!

i give the deer props though.. i literally watched her sneak though all my fishing lines like she was mission impossible through laser beams!!!! i was like you sneaky little bastard!! haha

Y'all getting hit with that wildfire smoke the way we do Saharan dust and Mexican crop fires. Sucks man. Rain helps some but damn.

15X Bonus on truck point this week!

I went thru something similar with the freebies getting some I wanted in a cart then next time they were different after I had changed the cart.
Then I kept the cart the same but kept hitting refresh and seeing the freebies change with each refresh. When it finally rolled back to a pair I wanted then I checked out.

Chocolope has been in my cart a few times too. I'll grab it before November
I'm gonna place an order thru a new bank/breeder and try to get some freaks. If one pack comes thru then I'll follow up with another order for 2-3 more packs of freaks

Y'all consider bucket traps? Highly effective especially if you use something large like a barrel but you do catch a bunch at one time and have to figure out how to kill them. Most people drown or release somewhere else.
I've come close to that a few times but luckily a different snap trap finally worked. Old rats are trap savvy bastards that will have me wanting to burn down my shed to kill them.
Once got lucky and saw an owl snatch one off my shed so that's why I can't use poisons
As a kid it was my job to check and clear traps at the cottage and boat house. I could barely set the large traps.

These days I use cage, mostly because of pets. But then either have to relocate or exterminate. Not sure I have one rat size.

So far it hasn’t come back and I have Willow walk the garden and bushes each night before bed. Hoping to scare anything there and leave her sent if they return.

I do have mouse traps but if the catch a rat they just walk off with it. Lol

A bucket trap variation I haven’t used since I was a kid. Jay in the boathouse. Never tried one outside. At least I wouldn’t have to worry about catching rabbits. 🤔

I was blaming the rabbits as well. Thought they broke the treaty. (Well one I’m sure did by eating a few leaves here/there but we won’t bring that up)

I was glad it was a rat but now I have to deal with it in a way that doesn’t catch the rabbits. Thinking cage trap with sunflower seeds.

They got all four cherry tomato plants. 🤬

Must have been yesterday as it was raining all day with thunderstorms and I stayed in.

I’m making protective domes to put around the base and fill with damp soil and some Stem-1 rooting compound.

Really pissed about this. Means they have a hole hidden somewhere I need to find and fill with water before filling in.

i feel you man!!! i know what its like. my polytunnel is the only thing that keeps them out. i've now focused all my gardening energy back into that.. all the veggies and flowers outside are now completely gone. i have a six year old rose bush that never makes it past two foot. all the flowers out front are completely mowed down. it's why i will only buy perennials.

it's like we gotta get lucky every single day and they only get lucky once!!

i'm gonna pull up all that weed block i put down and reclaim my grass. it was all just a big waste of time, money, and effort.

sorry to brag guys but this is pretty sweet forecast for the middle of summer!!!!

some damn good sleeping temps!!!!!!!!!! i'm going to be drawing that cool air through the basement all night too!!!!

I feel the same way but still have hope. Deer haven’t been around since Covid. But these little asshats come and go in waves. I wasn’t expecting them back so soon.

I feel bad for you. Like I set you up by sending seeds. I really wanted you to try the sugar baby watermelon.

We’ve been enjoying the cucumber weekly now. They are getting larger faster this last week.

We’ve had two or three good days/nights in a row. Windows open, nice breeze, lower humidity, good sleeping weather. 👍

i'll try again next year and grow a few inside the greenhouse. at least the tomato plants and cucumbers are safe. i have a few cukes just about ready to pick!! can't wait! got some greenies on the tomatoes.. a few of the grape tomatoes are starting to turn red.. won't be long now.

as much as it is frustrating having the deer eat my garden i also kinda get over it really quick. i love the deer, i love having them in my yard every single day. we enjoy watching them out the window every night when we eat dinner and having them around. it's impossible for me to stay mad at them.

it's prolly my fault anyway for feeding them now and then.

i was really hoping since we had such a cold winter we would get a break for the summer and be a little cooler.. this is fantastic weather right now!!! so nice not hearing an AC running in the background!!

.

i gotta check out that seed i popped.. no real solid plan yet.. for now i'm going to just put the seedling in a dwc single bucket and grow it out enough to get clones for the scrog. after that i have no plans, hopefully by time the plant is ready for cuttings once the weather cools off and i can share some clones!!!!! I had a couple hair brained ideas flash through but nothing that makes me go "yeah thats it!!" just yet. but the best part was that pack of seeds had a bonus seed in it so this is no harm no foul kinda start.

not really sure where this will take me or what will become of it.. just wanna try is all.

i keep imagining my turntable lazy susan back in place and a five plant site rdwc in place on it and slimmed down version of my perpetual. i'm not glued to the concept of SCROG'n two clones always, i'll gladly try two strains down the road. just keeping it easy to learn right now but i can see me having two completely different plants and making it work.

it would take a little practice with timing but i think i could make it work. have 1-5 plants in veg always and 2-3 in flower always. two in the scrog and when they start getting too big to keep vegging i'll maybe flower it out in a tent and single bucket or something. i don't know.. i'm gonna think on it some more.. it just makes my imagination go nuts when i have an empty grow cabinet sitting here with nothing in it!! haha

i don't own enough soil to make another run. not sure yet i want to buy more. i know for right now this moment it;s on hold.. i love soil and always will, but as i get older it gets harder to lift the soil six times or more throughout the grow. and i feel the quality of soil has gone down over the past few years and the price has gone up and now when i buy soil i also need to buy nutes to fortify it. also thinking of using soil just for the moms and going that route.

i'm a Libra... we weigh everything!! if i did a pro and con on soil and hydro right now it would be pretty much one sided.. tough for a Libra to ignore!!!!!!!

Sorry they ate those plants so vicious like man. Damn!
You nailed it on the wildlife and how they just need one lucky day meanwhile we have to stand guard 24/7.
I still feel the gut punch from raccoons and my aquaponics and it's almost been 10 years.

Have you looked into a psychological deer fence?
Saw that done on a homesteading show series I watch and it worked for them.
It would have a 2'-3' chicken wire wall at the base for small critters then up top there's two lines set at different heights and depth. The top line has flags on filament set at 8' and the lower line is just clothesline but at around 3-4' high and 3' inside the upper line.
Together, they fuck with the deer poor depth perception and they don't think they can make the jump.
Other than an 8' wire fence, just seems like they're gonna get to it.

Well it's no secret I dropped soil like a girlfriend that cheated on me so I understand it.
I have a lot of supplies left I need to use but yeah no new bags of soil here either. Plenty of used stuff to play here.
These are also the experiences that keep me out of the hydro vs soil debate. Which is better? Fuck if I know. The one I'm good at and can afford right now.
Or maybe, learn both and kick ass at both then it don't matter!

A black squirrel stole the two biggest tomatoes last night or this morning. (Could have been the rat but I saw the squirrel climbing our pine tree beside the garden when I came downstairs.)

So now I’m getting the live cage setup.
