I had a ground bee yellow jacket nest last year a little bigger under a butterfly bush.
Lucky to have seen it before they saw me.
No mercy on ground bees.

i mowed the lawn yesterday and the day before in between rain storms.. first time since mid august so it was pretty thick...

so get this one... today i was dranging the hose back across the yard to water the greenhouse when i noticed a hole in ground... i was like wtf is that?!?! looked closer and here it's a yellowjacket nest!!!!!! damn, so glad they didn't get me from mowing.. i drove right over that hole a couple times on thursday!!!

i don't know if it's the bigger the hole the bigger the nest but they were active!!!!

We didn’t get a hornets nest this year, but I did find a paper wasps nest in the same hedge this year. It’s about ten feet to the right of where the hornets nest was. It’s deeper into the hedge so we missed it until it got large and too entwined to remove until winter.

Sure, but it won’t be until mid November when they aren’t home.
