Stoney's Luv Shack

that was a whole mess of a race wasn't it?!?!? man everybody good wrecked!!! the 5 team fought aero issues after the second crash, they couldn't keep the middle of the splitter up on the car. crew tried to fix it three times and were afraide if they try again they'd make it worse so the crew chief gave up on it, first time i ever heard Cliff Daniels tell larson we can't make it better.

it was a shit show for them and bet they wish they could try over!

i've been swamped with work the past couple weeks and still a few more fully booked so i haven't done much updates. i know a lot of you guys work some insane amount of hours so i won't even complain about my 50 hour weeks, i'' welcome the income and move on!!

the plants are tiny anyway, all still alive and one "can't get right". rain water test seedlings are doing fine. only had to water the pants once so far, they'll need it again maybe tomorrow or the next night.

still catching up on everybody's threads and have a page left of new updates yet but i should get some time later to post some pics. i made one error so far... a real fuckin dunce move.. last week when i took photos to compare the soil to hydro i set both cabinets at 1% white and accidentally left it there for a day or so. i haven't gone back in the log but the graph shows it!!! plants are okay, some stretched a little though.

i sure know you guys could slap a dumb ass on me for this move^^ hahaha
Maybe add a WTF and FAFO? 🤣

You still watching in the corner? Haven’t seen any grow updates in a while? All good?

Harvested the big plant and smoked it, waiting on the other to ripen more, chop and then scrub everything down and retire system for now I guess.

Sorry to hear that. We all get beat down at times. Try to hang in there. Eventually you’ll get your time if you keep at it.

Would have liked to see a few pics before you chopped. Was like a big bonsai.

Often when I'm down seeing the plants grow really lifts my spirits. Sounds dumb probably, but just seeing them healthy in this crazy world helps some of the stress fall away

Sorry to hear about the apartment @Observer , sucks man. Much love

if ya ever wanna talk about shit man, i'll listen!

i upcanned and flipped.. had the soil mixed up for a few days and it was working hard when i scooped in and felt all the heat in the bin!!!

adjusted the spectrum and changed the hours... oops, if the lights were on at the time it would have said R50 W50 B25

002.JPG

so we'll count the end of July for start of flowering.,, went with my usual placement of talls on the left and shorties on the right..

004.JPG

007.JPG

soil mix was old soil, added in earthshake from greengro. COM stonington granules, greengro bloom, crab meal, bone meal, great white, neem cake, and some perlite.

so 16 plants, 5 cultivars all from Anesia, three of each except for only one Honey Fried Bananas. the other two of them will be grown in hydro.

still looking for just a simple A to B grow without fucking up or causing problems. not looking to break any records just a simple fun grow!

thanks for lookin in everybody and hope y'all have a great week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

some of you guys may know from Bandit's AI thread that i recently ordered a Ecowitt wireless soil moisture measuring setup.

i ordered it on monday night i think and some of it shipped from the states and some from china.. the forst part arrived today but sadly they sent the wrong item. i had ordered a controller and one sensor in a combo and only received the controller today. so we'll find out how the customer service is.

but as for the controller is a very small unit that has a usb plug sticking out it and connected to my network in less than a minute. works like some other wifi devices where when you first turn it on it broadcasts it's own signal, you connect to that and then tell it to look for your internet wifi and how to connect to that then switch back to your own wifi on your device and let it connect from there. took about 30 seconds, very easy and great guidance on the app.

you can connect to it with both a smart device and PC. i've already loaded it on my phone and tablet, both droid but says IOS too..

you can see just how small the controller is... you can connect 16 things to it. they offer other things besides the moisture sensors, you can get valves and smart outlets that connect to it along with other things.

002.JPG

and the readout shows graphs and info...

Captureg.JPG

so once i get a sensor i'll be able to try it out... for now i just get to see temp/rh/pressure.. i'm gonna tie it next to the aci one in there now and see how it compares but from it being on my desk connected for a couple hours i can tell you guys it's accurate and won't need a calibration.

funny part is the 11 sensors i bought are coming from china.. here's the map they say it at in china... thats china?!? fuck i flew a long way just to get there, look s like it a couple hours away according to their map!!!! hahahaha

Once you get your sensors and install in pots you will be happy with purchase. You have graphs for each indivdual pot showing daily , 24 hour period, weekly gives you good idea on plants water consumption.

okay, maybe twice.. but thats it no more than twice... i think.. hahahahaha

Ecowitt replied to me today , all 12 of the sensors will come in the other shipment. i expect it to take at least another ten days to get here. hoping it comes through jamaica!!! haha

but so far the wifi unit has been perfect with no errors or anything. i've had the tab open on my PC browser since i powered it on and every minute it sends new data, you can adjust that one minute but i just left everything default except for the clock and calendar layout. so far it's been spot on matching the ACI numbers.

gonna pull a little more blue out of the spectrum...

I have some questions and I'm not afraid to ask dumb ones 🤪:

Is this because you are in flower or are there other signs telling you to make this adjustment? Gut feeling or experience?

Are you using a light that allows you to adjust color balance throughout the grow or are your blues coming from supplemental lighting?

Beautiful photo!

Beautiful photo!

i use a california lightworks led and it allows for individual color change between red, white, and blue. i get the option on a controller to add between 1-99% of each color.

right now i'm running with all red and white and 50% blue. when i take a little more blue out i will educe it to 40% blue

i do this for two reasons, one is manufacturer suggestion and the other is just experience with them. not to get into detail too much but i believe these settings were more suggested for the 1st version of the lights and i'm running the 2nd version lights for my first time. so this time i will adjust the spectrum how i've always done it, then next grow i'm going to run an even spectrum to compare.

this is the manufacturer suggestions for a plants five stages of life... right now i'm on the pre-flower, now that i've seen cotton starting i switch to flower ratio. when it's two weeks left i switch to finishing.

Thanks for the explanation. There was so much blue in your photo I was guessing you had added blue lights. Pretty impressive that this light offer so much. I have seen people on here talking about different settings for different stages, but I had no idea that a single light could offer that much range until seeing your photo. Something that I probably shouldn't have been surprised about, but it took the visual and your comment about reducing blue to drive it home for me.

It's interesting that the blue and red do such a drastic and even flip going from flower to finishing. Do you make that move all at once all at once, or make incremental adjustments over some period of time?

Hope you end up loving the new light. From comments on here, it seems to be from one of the premium grow light manufacturers 👊.

I was browsing lights recently and saw where Gorilla has UV spectrum in their lights. I'm not up on lights. Maybe there are others offering UV. If not, it seems like we should start seeing more all in one set-ups instead of having to add in pieces here and there.

All this talk of lighting reminded me I need to run down and check the mechanical timer I switched to after the ACI outlet snafu. We had another hour, or so, power outage due to a storm while I was at work. The timer probably needs adjusting.

all blue, red, and white..
001.JPG002.JPG003.JPG

as far as i know the major difference between the older gen1 versus the newer gen2 is the color of the white. the older gen1 above has a soft white around a 2500K it looks. where the gen 2 has more of a daylight of maybe 4000K or maybe 4500K.. just a crisper white

004.JPG

i normally just make the jump all at once. i'm normally not at full power during these adjustments so it's only a few percent at a time. for example right now i'm only at 50% red and white and 25% blue so to go from pre flower to flower is only 5% blue adjustment. in this case i will probably raise the red and white and leave the blue alone. i'll add more and more power each week as they flower.

007.JPG

last round i went up a little too fast and burned some plants pretty bad. these were the gen1 lights though and they're not as user friendly as the gen2 so i'm probably being way over cautious at this point but i'm a little gun shy from last round.

have you ever used a smart timer?

i use quite a few of these around the house and they are very dependable...

only one has ever broke and that was because it was getting rained on during a bad storm. i use them for my chicken coop and they're not waterproof at all. haha

[Ha! Apparently, I failed to click "Post Reply", this morning. Thought I had already posted this.]

Thanks, man. This really helped. Probably a case of me overlooking something that should be obvious, at this point. I was envisioning a much more subtle range across the color spectrums. Plus, you have intensity on top of the color balance. Very cool.

Lulu told me to chill about the lights, already. And give her a morning belly rub.
IMG_9078.jpeg

I actually have a box of those smart plugs. I just use them to connect lamps and stuff to Alexa. I think I'm going to finish this effort on the mechanical timer. Then decide whether to do another with this set up or go ahead and buy a led light. I'd prefer to hold on until I decide what to do for a grow space, but I also don't think a light for the 2X4 would be a waste. Seems like it would get use for veg or something.

Thanks for the insight!

now this doesn't mean i know how to use it properly!! haha sometimes having full control can lead to full disaster!!

having time to shop is great because you can really nick pick the details and even look for a bargain. and there's always lots of folks here willing to help out and would love to spend your money!!! hahaha nah seriously though if i was in the market i would lean on friends here as much as i could to help make a good choice. almost everybody here grows with different lights..

For sure. I am not shy about seeking advice... at all. My conundrum is whether to continue in the 2X4, as is. Or, does it make sense to go ahead purchase a more modern light for it? If I'll continue to get use out of it after I figure out a what direction I really want go in for a grow space, then maybe...

we've been ramping up for a couple pets here at the shack.. been a while since we had any furry friends in the house and we've been talking about it for a while now and last week we were out at the spca lookin around!!! we haven't really made a dead set on cat or dog and probably both.. nothing jumped out and chose us yet so we'll be patient. we're all about the rescue way and will never do the retail way so it might take a little bit yet. no rush at all but i hope to post some pictures before the end of the year. oooh maybe a xmas surprise!! i think if it dosn't happen by then, i'll intervene and make it happen!!! sounds like plan i just made up!!!!

Double "Hell, yeah!"

We're all about the rescue animals here, too. We have one exception, but he wasn't retail. The dad of one of my wife's co-workers breeds Australian Shepherds and trains them as working cattle dogs. His daughter took one as a pet, but drug her feet getting her fixed. She lives next to a Border Collie kennel. Magic happened and that's where we got our boy Zeppelin from.

I'm all about the edibles, but they really surprise me sometimes. Normally I have to give them roughly an hour to get going, but it's a long-lasting high. I've had some crazy one-offs here and there, tho. I've gone so long, like a few hours, thinking I had some duds, then Whammo! I've also had some commercial stuff be very consistent only to get randomly get weird results. Either duds or hang on tight. Not long ago, I had some hit hard. I was locked into the couch watching people pass through the room just hoping against hope that nobody would stop and try to talk to me. The family ended up going to town. When I told them about it later, they thought I was just watching tv. I'm just an easy high sometimes. My kids will eat 500mg like it's nothing. I'd be chopping that into multiple doses.
