Grump's Mother-plant Grow 🌿

It’s been a slow grow here too. I got worried and took extras on flower as backups. The backups just started showing roots this weekend, but the originals are doing good now. Even with the heat mat it’s taking a lot longer than normal with a few.

I definitely stunted them a little when I ran the portable AC down here. It barely got over 70 in the mother tent and the clones kinda threw a fit.

Thanks man. I'm loving it as well. With this last one rooting, I'm 8 for 8 in this system and most have taken only a week to root. Even the seedlings really like this setup.

The rootballs on the moms will become a pain eventually. Trimming them keeps them from creeping but they'll ball up right there, making it difficult to pull out. In the future, once this experiment is realized with it's own room, i'll likely go with 3inch pipe. More room and I could use the same collars in both systems.

Took a long time but the first four have started filling the cups with roots and been topped at least once. I let them touch the light first.

Now they have to stay healthy for a month or so.

Well this big ol' bitch clogged the Mother-dro setup...

Limited capacity in that system anyway, but having the channel above the resevoir saved me a bit of a flood. All the water dribbled onto the lid of the res and the only water on the floor was what had splashed. I need to look back and see about how old this plant is (Edit: cloned on 12/6 and rooted 12/14). Regardless, it let me know that my 2" lines clog sooner than expected.

I went ahead and ganked everything but the Glue Crush seedling and my Indigo Sapphire clone/mom.

I plan to sew a few seeds tomorrow, rather than rely on one seedling for my clones. I'll drop 6 or 7 and take from the biggest and healthiest. Next run TBD.

I plan to sew a few seeds tomorrow, rather than rely on one seedling for my clones.

Scratch that.. I'll be waiting for my vertical germinator before starting any new seeds.

I've made a list of all my beans... 80 packs even.
That's way too many to make a decision. I'm lost when faced with more than like 3 options.

I'm gonna run it all through a Random Number Generator and report back.

Ive grown GZ couple times and if ur wanting gmo, asphalt funk mixed with grapey/lemon , ur in for a treat.. The GZ has been the best plants ive grown in couple years, all tho not growing now...
Out of respect to ur journal i wont post any pics but i cant wait to see how all of these strains turn out for ya..

Thanks man.. Yeah I know things got a little weird with Heisen and GPS. I just put Greenpoint because that's the pack it's in. It may never get grown out. 4 of those strains will go in the trash when I decide which one is gonna be my next run. I'll have to clear 4 slots to clone the strain of my choosing.

I knew it was gonna be ugly because I haven't filled the humidifier in a few days but, honestly, I expected worse.

Little seedling isn't happy but she's hanging in there alright

It also says you're doing something right when stress like that doesn't kill them. You're doing something that builds up their immunity and defense to stress and that's a good thing

My daughter helped me with the transplant so I didn't get any pictures, but it went well. Everyone is happy and healthy in the system, ready to grow.

Roots snipped yesterday. Here they are today.

HVAC guys arrived today and got half of the install completed and they said they'll be out of here by tomorrow. They got here way sooner than I expected, which is awesome because that means I didn't have to take much of a break from growing.

Initial plan was to use Moe's 4x8 tents for a Mother/veg tent and a flower tent. Now the wife is on board with closing off half of our basement to anyone none-the-wiser. A hidey-hole/safe room for one half and my grow op in the other. That'd be nearly 25% of my floorspace dedicated to growing. We talked about secret doors and whatnot, so to anyone not in the know, we'll only have a half basement.

My next run will still be in the 4x8s. Maybe my next two runs, BUT I'm back to planning for a purpose built growing space and I'm stoked.

These Gorilla Tent's are sweet. First time setting one up. The whole top zips off making setup pretty smooth and easy.

The mother tent is a couple fans shy of being ready for some seedlings. I'm gonna get some beans wet tomorrow for the maiden voyage of Grump's Motherdro 2.0.

I straightened out the manifold and hung a disassembled SpiderFarmer light. This tent won't need much light so I'm not worried about only using 4 out of the 6 bars.

I'll eventually be running a double-decker setup with moms on top in 3 inch pipe dropping down to clones below in the current 2 inch setup. This here is just to get my seeds going and clones started.

Right now I'm just running bleach through it all to clean up the pump and line. Following that, it'll be a sterile setup since I won't be using a chiller.

This is similar to my room. Open the real door and it looks like a small hall closet with a shelf system. To the left, the false wall slides back and opens into the grow room. It's not 100% Scooby Doo style false wall but it gets the job done if somebody is looking for the bathroom and happens to open it by mistake. It's worked perfect for that a few times.
It looks normal and all from the outside but if one was to ponder they might wonder why there are two hall closets and what seems to be a void between the main room and hall but nobody has ever realized it.
It used to be such a hassle carrying water thru it but now I pump it in.

We talked about a bookshelf that swings out of the way, and behind that a false wall that's painted like another bookshelf... one real book snuck in there that triggers the wall to open up. The name on that book will be Nosey or something to thay affect.

Got some beans wet today
I picked a few strains from Moe's special box of seeds and the rest were drawn out of my stash at random

I assume these will be ready for collars in a 4-5 days. I'll keep the best looking 8.

I've had bleach running through the pipeline for a minute now. Time to switch over to some grow nutes so I'll pump all that out first. Then I'll run a heavy H202 cycle. Then we'll filler 'er back up with nutes.

First one ready to clone gets the maiden voyage under the new RagingKush lights.

Aaaannd..... GO
