We're back with another episode of Grump's Grows.

This one's all about my Indigo Sapphire clones. These are 26 days old from cutting and ready to go. I'll get them healthy and send 'em right into flower. I'm assuming we'll see some noticeably healthy growth in a week or so.

I'm trying out a new method this round. We're gonna see how they handle going medialess...

Held in tight with a neoprene collar... wish 'em luck 👍

-------

Here's all of what I'll be using this round.

Equipment:
SpiderFarmer 5x5 tent (vaulted ceiling edition)
UnderCurrent 8 gallon 4-site system
CLW SolarSystem 1100 grow light
ACI 6" exhaust fan
ACI 6" inline fan
ACI CloudForge T7 humidifier
2x ACI CloudRay oscillating fans
2x BlueLab ph/ppm monitors
AquaticLife 4 stage RO/DI system
Active Aqua 1/10hp chiller
Alita 15 lpm air pump

Nutrients:
Athena's Blended line
General Hydroponics RapidRooter
Plant Success Orca Liquid Mycorrhizae
0ppm RO/DI water

20251216_095951.jpg

I did away with the carbon filter since I don't have any neighbors and I moved the exhaust and the space heater out of the tent. I'm gonna try to heat the exterior with an oil heater that's not controlled by the ACI brains. Going that route will limit my temperature controls to solely the exhaust fan, but it will benefit the mother tent as well.

You find a big difference using 8 gallon buckets instead of 5 gallon , I managed with growing photos in 5 gallon buckets but had a problem with autos filling up the buckets with roots just wondering what advantages there are with the 8 gallons do you have to change your water less ? An last what size water lines connecting them or are the single buckets

I didn't even notice the mediumless part.

top of my head, not much of a difference unless trying to keep it more sealed for 02 injection scenarios, though the roots will Have more room and freedom without the media "clogging" them.

As long as the roots or some are in the water/making contact.

I personally prefer eliminating media if possible, way more control over the rootzone, which is like the heart of the plant.

Maximize rhizosphere zone variables, then maximize the canopy variables. = profit.

Volume = stability = scale of plant growth in a given space area....ratios.

1 system, as a whole.

1spot (resevoir) top off, tops off the whole 4 plant site.

A entire RDWC System, as One.

8gallons are more volume compared, more volumes = more roots = bigger plant, but that plant can only get so big given the space it's grown in, therefore balance & optimization.
A certain balance/root space to headroom, for plant size and vegging then flowering variables.

I would suspect a 5gal--8gl (rdwc) is around the "perfect" amount of volume correlating to plant size in a (5x5) tent-area/volume of space. If im making sense.

I can go into more detail but it's turning into a book.

So when I first started all this, I did a single site using an 18 gallon tote. More water equates to better water stability.

i eventually upgraded and went to 4 sites. I went with UnderCurrent and they only offer 8 gallon or 13 gallon options. 8 gallon buckets saved me some headroom and here we are.

I've got 2inch pipe connecting all for buckets that goes up to 3inch headed back to the control res. Closed loop feed to the fallponics. I think that's half inch irrigation line.

Wipe that calcium deposit off the edges of buckets you filthy animal lol
Ha.. You're not wrong. I scrubbed and wiped I swear. You should see my control res. The float valve is like twice the size it used to be 🤣

Getting plenty of splash from the fallponics and bubblers and some roots have found their way out.

It'll branch out alot more (no blockages changing direction, open growth paths)

it's like topping the roots

The splashes/drops on the netcup are perfect, that root system will sense that and grow all out towards it.

Then it's gonna start thriving in that volume of water if the ratios and oxygenation is adequate.

Can't wait to see them bounce back in a few days, adjusting to the different system.

Glad to see you running mycorrhizae, I figure the flow could disrupt the colonies, but that doesn't mean they can't exist and benefit in nutrient uptake....and still latch on to and create a symbiosis relationship with the root system.

Something I also wanted to try and test/compare to factually verify.

Use an acid like PH Down or vinegar. Pipecarver’s idea, worked for my soft pots and saucers.

That's some great root growth~!
My only concern with going media less is the plant tipping over when it flowers and gets heavy.
Hopefully the mass of roots will be large and heavy enough to hold everything in place.

I thought about that. I'll be tying 'em down to the eyelets on the lids when they get that big. Hopefully i'll need to tie up some colas too 🤞

Well I think I'm all stocked up on Heisenbeans...

Dragon Gas
Blue Dubz
Trich Dawg
Lunch Ticket
Carbon Crusher
Cosmos
Berry'a 51
Sweet Rock
Polarberry
Platinum Ice
Glue Crush
Gravitron
Grape Banger
Crushberry Sugar
Boogeyman
Apple Stomper
Doppelgänger

-All 12 packs and nabbed for under 20 bucks a pack. Several of these went for 13 or 14 dollars. Buck a seed is a pretty good deal. Hard to pass up reverse auction seeds and, according to G$, this dude's been on his game recently.

@GoodShit97, am I missing something that's a must have?

I know we all went crazy for a minute on the GPS reverse auctions so, for anyone else interested...

Ive been following the whole gu and heisen shitshow until recently when Gu finally booted me from his discord lol 😆

But gu has produced nothing out of the SIX 100 feet tunnels he has in Ocala.
Heisen has a shop and has harvest 4 seed runs and a cash crop.....
No way in hell id ever go back to gps, and that was the issue all along. Heisen had to make what gu wanted and gu always wanted trashy herm prone cookie crosses.
Heisens working his shit now. On his second 300 seed pheno hunt

Oh sorry gu harvested 1 REGULAR seed harvest from 1 tunnel lol 😆

4 Days in the system and we've hit a growth spurt. They were topped 4 days ago when they weren't looking so pretty. All of that stem is from the last day and a half. 3 working on 4 nodes.
20251220_194041.jpg

That topside growth with this expslosive root growth means that it's on. Like ON on.
20251220_194132.jpg
Pretty cool seeing it all happen. No pebbles in the dang way.
Screenshot_20251220_212449_Gallery.jpg

Overall plants looking grim from their pH struggles in the mother tent. Do I trim the uglies or do I let the plants eat 'em? My heart says trim that shit.

You can remove the fucked off leafs, or let it run its course a little longer, in transitioning and cannabilizing those leafs for nutrients, (at the same time, I suppose the water media is also supplying those, so you can still remove them, the "nutrients' are their) while they adjust, new growth looks great.

They are starting to acclimate to the system.

And the root growth from the netcups tale the same story.

Try to keep those new tops symmetrical and let it run.

Cut all of the root end tips and watch them branch out even more.

Good color, good growth and I'm starting to see alternating nodes. So... as soon as I get the time, i'll be flipping them to flower and mixing up a batch of transition nutes. Probably this weekend which would give them about a week and a half in the system before flip.

Those bitches are gonna explode.
I see some slight burnt tips but does that honestly fuckin realistically matter/make a difference?
Lol

Killin' it bro.

The system is just Workin' as it Fuckin Should.

All the ladies are looking lush and green and happy so they got a res change and spectrum swap. Going to 12/12 at 99r:99w:49b in the morning. ~25 DLI

These sexy underthings are sucking in a 550ppm mix of Bloom Nutes at 5.8pH.

Man I love Hydro
✌️& 💚

Edited to add: Wow. Just checked some dates. Clipped from mom on 11/27 and transplanted on 12/16 looking like this...
20251216_095622.jpg
Those roots up above are from 10 days in the system. This has got to be some kind of record setting root structure considering they were still on mama just a month ago. My last round of clones took 21 days to root... I think I'm gonna be extremely happy with that Mother-dro setup.
Fast as fuck BOI

Looking forward to your smoke report on this. The name makes my mouth water.
About 4 years ago, Laura and I were in Oregon (Rogue River) visiting a friend. He grew something called Mango Sapphire. That stuff is one of my top 5 ever. He did a wondeful job with the grow, but that stuff was amazing.

I’m hoping your Indigo Sapphire has the same impact.

🎶 Do you see what I see?? 🎶

They look great and they're working hard.
20260101_045321.jpg
I'll let 'em run like this for another week or so and then change out the res with a full dose of PK. They're gonna need tied down soon so I'll get in there and do that on my next day off.

Happy New Year Fuckers!

;bbuild.. Happy New Year...

Had a little extra time before work this morning so everyone got tied down and spread out.
Nothing but up from here!

It's pretty clear that the clones decide on their own which cola they want to be the main. Each plant had one that outgrew the rest. We'll see if laying them out will help evenly distribute their energy.
