Pipecarvers Pipes & things

Electric bill this month was 172.00 dollars but thats with plugging two vechiles block heaters in so they start month before 136.00. Hydro rate 12 cents kilowatt hour. I run light 18-6 but run the 600 watt light at 330 watts for the whole run i dont play with light its about 6 inches from top of tent and stays there. Costs are higher in summer running central air and two dehumidifers. Just side lighting no UV.
That's a nice elect rate.I think we are around 0.19 kw + 14% + base rate charge, we're around $250/month + $3-400 oil....its expensive to be poor in this country.

Week 7 flower and all looking good, The color has come back to the Strawberry Purps and it smells like Strawberries. I'm not that good at describing smells and tastes but this is easy. Nice fat sweet smelling buds, I may have to rethink my magic 11 weeks though, these aren't going to make it that long. I over cooked my Grape Skunk last grow I won't make that mistake this time. Zamelda Dreams doesn't have as large a bud as the strawberry but very frosty so early.

I have 4 sprouted and 1 more cracked along with my clone I should have my next grow started. I'm a bit behind where I like to be I had been thinking 11 weeks flower but these aren't going to go that long so I'm a couple weeks behind.

We were woke up this morning to a cold cat, he kept getting on top of me and his fur was cold. I was thinking a window or something was open. I got up 6 am to see what was going on . It was 58f and the furnace wasn't running...wtf now. checked the tank and we were good. I then came down to my grow room and a furnace pipe had fallen off the furnace. A screw was missing so I reattached the pipe & fiddled with the control box and on it came in full force,,,whew...-11C this am. Too fking cold to have no heat.

It looks like swapping out the dryer receptacle was the trick, we've had 2 successful drys since. Now I have a perfectly good dryer sitting in parts on my deck, I have nowhere to put itJan 29 clone and sprouts.JPGJan 29 snow day.JPGJan 29 straw purp 3.JPGJan 29 Straw Purp.JPGJan 29 straw purp2.JPGJan 29 Zam Dreams.JPG

That last one is my favorite, sexy!

Hey PC. Plants are looking great. That last one is perdy. 🤩

Glad you got the dryer, or rather receptacle, issue figured out. Sucks you now have a back deck full of spare parts. I’d offer to buy it since we need one but the shipping would be horrendous. 🤣

Hope your doing well with all the cold and snow. Until I can check and hopefully fix the car I’m staying indoors. On the bright side it gave me a good excuse to cancel my dentist appointment. 😝

Hey thanks, Zamelda Dreams from DFG. Its my second run with them, Very nice smoke too. No sweetness to it more old school taste and a nice buzz. That back left corner of my tent has a habit of producing the nicest buds, not sure whats up with that but that's where all the sparkle comes from.

It looks like we have more snow on the way our favorite weather forecaster doesn't get it wrong very often
That guy makes me laugh every time. Hope he makes bad news a little better.

Sounds like you got a hot and humid summer coming if he’s that good. 😳

Hey Gmorning, Yes Franky gets excited about weather events, he made the news about 10 years ago and has kept it up ever since. He gets a lot of positive comments and everyone seems to like the guy. His enthusiasm for bad weather is fun to watch.

My girls are at 8.5 weeks. 1 Strawberry purps leaves have yellowed up again. I'll be pulling her soon. The rest are close. I need to get my feed down this week and chop them by next weekend.

My clone is doing great but I've been having trouble getting sprouts up and growing. I have another seed in paper towels, should be ready to plant tomorrow. I had 2 deform and 1 looks like it was pinched or damping off, if another seedling does this I'll have to make up another batch of soil, something is off.Feb 8 new crop.JPGFeb 8 Straw Purp 2.JPGFeb 8 Straw Purp 3.JPGFeb 8 straw purp 4.JPGFeb 8 straw purp group.JPGFeb 8 Zamal Dreams.JPG

Feb 14,
I pulled my Strawberry Purps today. I have all 3 in my dry box. I tried to use my chiller & radiator to cool the res but it created a problem of heating the water with a pump running 24/7 in the res to circulate the water. I got this brainy idea to get a small water transfer pump to tun outside the tank so it doesn't heat the water. I never thought of the speed and or noise this small pump makes and it blasts the water through my chiller....Fail. so Cold water is all I really need so skip the chiller and use cold water in the reservoir and I can change it daily. It seems to be working my room is 69f inside the box its 63f. I can now shut my dehues off and let the humidity rise a bit. I've had it low for flowering and its 42% atm. I also put 3 large bud branches in my Mini Fridge. It dried a bud in my last crop perfectly and it was the fastest way to sample the smoke. Submersible DC pumps don't generate heat since the power switcher is outside tank.
Most AC submersible pumps raise water temp 4-6 degrees f above room temp when run 24/7.

Ah, I didn't think of that, fk, I have a few pumps I don't need already now...lol whats 1 more. My res is staying pretty cool as is, I may not need to run my chiller through it this time of year anyways. I insulated the reservoir I didn't change water today but I will tomorrow AM. .

So you are saying something like this pump would not put out heat?

As long as the transformer/power switcher is not in the water the heat is not in the pump.
That pump probably has the transformer on the plug right at the wall. That is where the heat will be.

Ya as soon as I read above I had a ahha moment, I hadn't thought of keeping the power out of the water. The fking sound on the one I bought, screaming loud. I could muffle it some with bumpers but still. No way I could use it for long, just loo loud and too much speed. I don't need water moving through my system and into the tank at warp speeds. I had a fking geyser blowing water everywhere.....sure funny where you sit but I got soaked in just a test run before I got the hose under control.

I have had my share of soakings and floods.
I learned about the pumps when I was breeding tropical fish and had 80+ tanks going in my fish room.
I still have my 180 gallon tank in my living room with the filter in the basement run by a DC pump that moves 15-20,000 LPH.
I like my pumps in the water for noise. Only way to do that without heat is DC.
I had some nice AC pumps that run inline / outside the res so they transfer heat to the air that I gave to Sweetleaf for his hydro set up.
If your AC pump is watertight to run in line you will change the heat transfer.

You need a shop camera PC so we can watch these moments as they happen. 😂

Those buds look delicious! 🤤

Hey, yes the buds look nice but low yield this run, all but 1 plants are small. I had Gnats chewing on my roots. I put down some sticky traps and I bought some Diatomaceous earth but I was too late. I have to do a serious cleaning. I saw a trick of adding boiling water to your soil to kill bugs and larva before planting I may do that with this next run with my VPW30. I'm still having trouble getting my last seed up and running. I have 5 up but the last one cracked the surface and died. That's 2 I've had go on me like that, I need to drop another seed tonight.

Yours look great, twice the size of mine, I'm still waiting on that perfect run where all plants perform and fill my tent. Maybe this next run if I can ever get my last plant up and running. Too fking cold this winter me thinks. I have 2 -150w reptile lamps in my 3x3 but its not enough. after I get my last 2 plants chopped down today I can move my heater in there. 1250w should do it
