I've been playing with lights with Blue 450nm booster bars, Far Reds 750nm and a Green 550nm 40watt bar. I've been using the added green along with my regular lights through the lights on period. I bought the light just to play with and I put this into google to see what it says.
while growing cannabis with a mars hydro FC-evo 4000 light I add a 40 watt 550nm green light, what should I expect using this light?
When adding a 40-watt 550nm green light to your setup alongside a high-quality, full-spectrum light like the Mars Hydro FC-evo 4000, what you should expect depends entirely on when you turn it on. [1]
Here is what to expect based on how you use it:
Scenario 1: Running it during the "Lights On" cycle (Supplemental Day Light)
If you run the 40W green light simultaneously with your Mars Hydro fixture during the day cycle, it will act as a supplemental spectrum. The Mars Hydro FC-evo 4000 EVO already uses Samsung LM301H EVO chips to provide a highly efficient full spectrum (which already includes green light). However, adding a small boost of 40W of dedicated 550nm green light will yield a few specific results: [1, 2, 3]
I think its working

- Deeper Canopy Penetration: Unlike blue and red light, which are heavily absorbed by the top layer of leaves, green light (500–600nm) penetrates much deeper into dense plant canopies. It will reach the lower leaves and encourage photosynthesis where light is usually scarce. [1, 2, 3, 4]
- Improved Lower Cola Yields: Because green light drives photosynthesis in the lower mesophyll of the leaves, it helps mitigate lower leaf loss and can increase the size, density, and overall quality of your lower bud sites (colas).
[1, 2] - Potential Morphological Shifts: At 550nm, green light can activate shade-avoidance receptors if the intensity is high enough. Combined with your main light, it might slightly trigger minor stem elongation or larger leaf surface areas, but at only 40W, this effect will likely be subtle. [1]
