Age of Empires will forever be my favorite. That, sadly, isn't available on mobile 😢
They've brought 2 and 4 to Xbox recently, age of empires 2 cheesesteakjimmys lumberjack and rockon...I remember those followed by legions of elephants

Xbox had a killer instinct remake that could be played online. It was pretty badass.
Yea Xbox for that or you could try game pass on PC...it should be included with that
Thanks guys. I played that a lot in the military we would have weekend tournaments. I was always spinal. Edit: I did find it on Game pass. Thanks

Just hit up a couple black Friday deals for myself grabbed resident evil 1 on the Xbox series x for 5 bucks

Grabbed the legend of dragoon and grandia collection for the PS5. They are PS1 era RPGs, think grandia may have been a Dreamcast series....shit that I can pick up play and sit the controller down and walk away from...

Anyone on the PS5? Xbox series x?
If so what y'all playing?
Waiting on gta 6?

So I haven't really gamed in the last 4 years and I've been feeling an urge to grab a PC or Laptop to play some of the old games I grew up on. Long story short, Rollercoaster Tycoon Classic in the android store is scratching that nostalgic itch very well. Same exact game for the most part and, with the S23 ultra's stylus, it's exceptionally easy to play.

Figured I'd throw that out there.
Lol I loved it as a kid on ps2

You on an actual PS2? Emulating?

I remember that Scarface game, PS2 is the only way to play those classic GTA games that new remastered trilogy is ass
House fire ruined my consoles back in 2012

Haven’t touched a game in a while. Was using sons steamdeck to play “7 days to die” for a while, just solo as no internet. I get into building things and try to last as long as I can without dying.

My old new NES...these didn't have stickers over the tab so you could open them and pull foam out and look at it, this is about as unused as it gets IMG_20250104_140742089.jpgIMG_20250104_140814694.jpgIMG_20250104_140833805.jpgIMG_20250104_140847559.jpgIMG_20250104_140853995.jpg

I have 360, a 1, a raspberry for simulating tens of thousands of games, and my pc. Pc is pretty much all that gets touched lol. Usually play survival games or simulation games.

My custum dual loop pc. Dumped way too much into liquid cooling it, more than the actual components themselves :)

So I've been without power and bored here and there so I thought I'd look to see what kind of emulators I could find. Downloaded some super Nintendo games but most games take precision....so the I remembered turn based rpgs...PS1 had the best ones ..found duck station emulator...got a couple I always wanted to o try...but now I'm thinking about syncing this controller to my phone....may end up back on the super Nintendo

But damn pocket style with save states may be the only way I could find time to check out some old games I wanted to try...sitting down at a TV and finding peace and quiet isn't an option anymore

After reading this I now have the urge to fire up the raspberry. Sucks being without power :( Been gaming since the 80's so got a raspberry for an emulator. Was a bit of money more than the emulators you can buy preloaded, but I can just switch out the micro sd w the thousands of games on it and do other stuff w it.

Hell yea dude I loaded one up some years back customized menus and shit was pretty into it for about 6 months....need to get streets of rage remake (dos game) to work with two controllers....need to fire it back up soonIMG_20250318_154434916.jpg

They are pretty! I went w ryzen myself. Wall mounting would be cool! How would you wall mount it? I'm assuming you would fabricate(or gut one from a case) a plate of some sort to connect all the hardware to and hang it? Or buy like a smaller, lightweight case to hang? I think connecting the components on some sort of plate and hanging that on a wall would be sick! No hiding anything, just everything out in the open!

Those r sick looking! I bought a 70lb thermaltake 900 tower so I'd have plenty of space for 2 custom loops, not hanging that on a wall lol If I had seen those, I would've went a different way!!

Well that and the crazy amount of retro games lol
@moe.red uses the raspberry pi in his grow setup I do believe...I don't know what he has them doing but I thought it was pretty sweet when I seen it....what you using those pi's for moeski broski?

I thought he was using arduino? I am probably very wrong as always lol. I wanna guess he uses them to automate his nutes and maybe for his probes that monitor the water conditions in real time?
I just have one Pi5 and basically have used it as a game emulator. Used it for a few hrs learning a miniscule amount of coding and would like to dive into python. I like the fact that it's Linux and would like to dive into that again as well. I loved the command prompts over GUI, made you feel more like a hacker lol. Yes, they have newer versions of Linux that use GUI, but I prefer the commands

I just hit brick walls trying to learn python, or any coding language.

He might be I just seen a pi mentioned or maybe just noticed one in a pic...either way yea pretty cool stuff he does

My favorite turn based RPGs are on SNES, finish fantasy 3 (6 in Japan) is the RPG pixel art at its peak. I love the story, it's really good. Amazing intro in SNES mode 7 too.

Chrono trigger is the next best turn based on SNES.

The final fantasy story is darker than the more kid friendly story in Chrono trigger. Both are good, but barely a year goes by that I don't pick it up and get blown away again by the opening narrative and how cool it was to almost not have a main character that is forced on you. Lol sorry I could go on forever about the merits and current playback value of that game.

For any die-hard enthusiasts software emulation will never be pixel/timing perfect, hardware emulation via an FPGA chip like the one in Mister is 1:1 exact. But of course it's expensive, semi difficult to configure, and yada yada. I don't have one but will probably get one at some point. Currently only emulate switch at home and use a pocket device when I travel for retro gaming.

Yeah I also love the pocket devices, they are really cool!

Chrono trigger! Totally forgot about that rpg. I dove into Zelda of course and FF3. Also tried some super nes emulated games but gave up on TMNT shortly, that game is fucking hard! Gonna have to try some Chrono now, thanks ;)

What would you say if I told you I used to beat TMNT turtles in time on the hardest difficultly without cheats? Once you figure out you can get extra lives for points and that you get the max, 3 points, when you throw the enemy into the screen. Oh that game was so much fun when we would rent it from blockbuster as kids!
Remember Chrono has a game plus mode that lets you bring a finished game inventory to a new game to start a harder alternate story line. Really cool shit back then that you don't see much anymore

Lol oh them good old days

My other favorite SNES is super Metroid, it's what they based that new Metroid dread off of. This game is the definition of metroidvania.

I used to save old computer CPU I’d built. Took a bunch of early ones and made a picture.

Gave a lot of old systems and consoles away. Stopped hacking them after the 360. We have a few generations hooked up. My son plays them all still. Randomly gets in the mood.

I’m mostly on the Steamdeck and PS5 when I do feel like playing.
