I commuted 180km to work and back daily for 7 years then got whacked and broke tib/fib. I rode rain, snow, sleet, fog, wind, it didn't matter I rode...or called in sick...lol...a good suit, helmet glasses, gloves I was in my element but old 750 4 stroke Honda's didn't have that speed, I'd be long dead if I rode one of those
I had a 1983 Yamaha Seca 550 and a 1979 Kawasaki Z1R.
Crashed twice, fractured my pelvis, sprained ankle and elbow the second time.
Lucky I was on the little bike that night. All my fault and a funny story I often tell for laughs.
After I crashed at an exit on 87 I crawled up to the guard rail and flagged down a car.
It was a limo. They recognized me from where we had both just come from. I guess they were at the same strip club.
They stopped and I heard them say it is the biker guy. Come on we'll give you a ride!
When I said I could not walk they helped me to the front seat next to their driver.
They said you did a wheelie when you left~! I said maybe.

They were carnies from the Saratoga fair and Bob [ the driver ] said I got to drop them off first and then I'll get you to the hospital.
He dropped them off and I asked him to drive me home, not to the hospital.
He reluctantly did and helped me to the door and unlocking it. I tipped him $20 and he tried to refuse but I reminded nim he was a chauffeur driver, and I was his passenger. I was pretty drunk.
He left and five minutes later the sheriffs were at my place saying Bob was worried about me.
I ended up in the hospital for the weekend.
I gave the Z1R to my mechanic buddy.
Wish I still had that one today....
Haven't ridden my 1999 1200 sportster in 10 years at least.
Under 12,000 miles on it.
No desire to ride once I discovered convertible sports cars.
