started plotting some outdoor patches. I've got a seasonal creek that runs through the property, so I think I'm going to set up the psilocybe cyanescens along that area as I'm planning on turning that into a riparian zone since it's already kinda boggy and will make for a nice little hidden water feature. well shaded and moist, so it should be conducive for a few varieties of fungi.

i also have some lions mane spawn, pink oyster spawn, morel spawn, and reishi spawn that i'll be putting out in various areas. Stamets has some really cool stuff to say about using fungi in permaculture, so i think I'm gonna try to leverage some of his teachings and see what I can do in terms of improving the quality of, well, everything about this property. certainly can't hurt as most of the varieties of fungi i intend to grow are native to the region.

i didn't snag pics, but we have a dead standing tree that was producing pearl oysters and some other little white caps mushrooms. I imagine that's probably a perennial thing with that tree. gonna suck to cut it down but it's a safety hazard at this point.

You be bro… time for some air exchange. Try to keep the humidity up around 90%. You can fan 2-3 times a day by hand.

Do you have FAE holes or going to open the lid a bit. Either way pay attention to the substrate so it doesn’t dry to much but is getting air exchange. Not usually needed in the first flush but misting and fanning will help initiate pinning.

Im still waiting and after reading more on PE its taking much more time than im used to but looks to be on schedule for the genetic

I have a set of 8 holes around the tub for air exchange. I'll be filling that with fiber-fill this afternoon sometime. I have a spray bottle filled with distilled water to keep moisture up. So far, no sign of contamination so I'm happy. How long does it typically take for mushrooms to fruit?

With the GT and KSSS it was about 7-10 days with only a few days to pinning. With this PE it can be as much as 21 days to see pinning.

Once you see pinning you will have shrooms within a week.

Also don’t mist once you see a single pin in the whole thing. It will cause them to abort. I try to spray the sides and lids just enough to get a fine mist to help with humidity

You can easily see the beige color to the parts that dried out and the white new growth

My rice got too wet and I had some damn gnats get through the seams in the lid and laid larvae in the rice.

I precooked some brown rice yesterday, transfered to the fridge to cool down and then innoculated in still air.

Trying to not open or fuck with it too much this time, rice attempt #4.

Life's been throwing one curve ball after another, gonna get the right supplies when I can and do attempt another batch.


I'm about out of coco, have vermiculite though and a new bag of uncooked whole grain brown rice to play around with.

That is only 2 of seven bags of the 90 second ready rice. The other 5 bags didn't seem to produce any mycelium. So while yes, I am pleased that I had 2 come through successfully, I'd hardly call myself a mycologist. lol. Call it beginner's luck.

My KSSS which I injected into all in one bags have only gotten so far with the spawning process and seem to have failed to continue to form spawn. This could be a bit deceiving though because I have no idea how much if its grown in the middle of the rye grains where I can't see its development.

I do have several vials of pans cyan cultures. Once my SAB arrives (should be tomorrow) I will begin the process with them. Wish me luck ... sometimes its better to be lucky than good .... I should have enough culture that if the first try isn't successful, the second or third should be. I'll keep trying until I have a crop of "blue meanies." That's the goal of all of this ... to grow some Hawaiian Pans Cyans. They look like they are a bit easier to grow than the Psilcybe Azurescens.

The question has come up a few times about "why not just eat more cubes?" However, the more mushrooms I eat means I deal with more nausea. I haven't thrown up on them yet but an easier tummy experience would be a better trip for me. From what I've read, less mushroom fiber is easier on the tummy.

Spores are legal in just about every state. California, Idaho and Georgia are the exceptions and most sources won't ship them there.

I order predominantly from Sporeworks now. I used to order from lilshopofspores but I don't trust their payment processing now. TBH any approved vendor listed on shroomery is a trustworthy place to order from as their vendors go through an extensive vetting process to ensure confidential and reliable transactions.

for some more exotic/rare varieties I've had to hunt and go through less scrupulous looking vendors but that's where using gift cards or other anonymous means of purchasing offer additional financial protection.

How many Gs did you use?

Try 5-7, if you want the walls to breathe with you 10-20gs haha
