All things shrooms

Update:

After scraping the substrate with a fork and adding a casing, I finally got the KSSS to fruit. I'm glad I stuck with it. I'm seeing a lot of small pins starting to form.

KSSS Cased and fruiting.jpg

Also, using my AC Infinity UIS69 Pro controller and a small tent I already had, I've automated my mushroom grow. Top shelf is the KSSS and the middle shelf is the Pans Cyan. The controller is set to turn the humidifier on when humidity drops below 95%.

I'm still learning as I go so suggestions/tips are encouraged.

Sweet
I want to get another little tent for the shroomery.

Its my first day with this setup and I'm still adjusting the controller ... trying to dial it in as best I can. I think I'm pretty close. The smaller tent is much easier to maintain the environmental parameters for fruiting ... and fortunately a tent the size of this one is pretty inexpensive. It's like 18" x 32" x 65" or similar. I also already had the plastic shelf so no new money was spent on any of this ....

Nice man, doin better than me lol

I may finally be onto fruiting soon.

Got one jar growing but it smells suspicious, as if it's fighting an infection maybe, but the mycellium looks good.

And then this tote

I'm not sure I'm doing better than you. I'm not in the middle of trying to move. Moving is always a PITA!

I've been settled in the same place for a while now and the chances are slim to none that I'll be moving to a new place ever again.

I tend to turn things into competitions lol

I like the challenges

Added a casing layer.

You guys are doing great. 👍

I’m wondering if I can use the 3x1x3 zones in the second tent for this. Beats doing veggies at least until March. 🤣

Maybe a piece of rice.

It's like it grew out of it

Been a hassle though

Like the place

Few things need fixing
Washer is fucked, ha.

Floors weren't cleaned or done terribly

Mother fuckers shampooed the carpet in rooms with no fans and didn't even vacuum first so possible mold growing too

Hard-floor tile/laminate is fucked, leaves ur feet black in 5 seconds.

So weve been moving stuff back and forth, steaming the floor our selfs, before we can actually move in and put things down.

They supposed to come back and shampoo carpets again...

Leak under sink, fuck I better go check that again lol, I may have fixed it or slows it down though.

2 outlets don't work

Cold water line seems half on

Crap. You buy a house you get shit like that. Renting it should be fixed BEFORE new tenants move in.

Yeah it's a 2br2ba apartment we got rushed into cause they moved our move in date back

And shit still isn't ready.

We had to be out on the 1st at other place and moved that day here.

Move in date was 22nd

1000 for rent alone for this.

I'm happy with the unit, way better than our last one, but just a couple inconveniences that are pretty frustrating in an already stressful situation.

But it'll get fixed, or well withold rent under Oklahoma tenant laws if they don't.

Fk man, rent is so expensive.
Glad you got into another place tho man. That can be a hassle and wicked stressful
Really fucking was/is but feeling better got some more stuff organized and out of the way today

And should get some things fixed in a few hours they supposed to come

I'm beat though man 4hrs~ sleep/day passed couple weeks.

Taking care of a toddler, and trying to water plants multiple times a night and learn shit.

Cool. You’ve been due for a break. Karma can be a slow lady but you have her attention now. 🍀

Thanks man

Should hopefully be smooth sailing after the next 48hours.

Maybe another 48 and I'll the whole place in order about.
More like two weeks… no rush. Don’t make stress. Use an area as a prep or temp storage area and fix/arrange one room at a time. More if you need too but one at a time is best. You won’t get it perfect for a few weeks/months so don’t get upset. 👍

Yeah probabkt right I just want to get shit done.

Not too much to do as we are pretty much just starting our our adult life's so don't have too much to move, we had everything in her room while we did the living room floors but need to be done again kinda.

And then moved things back to shampoo them today supposedly.

Been back and fourth...lol

Excellent. 👍

Like the cannabis experiments and observations but you need to slow it down for the shrooms this time round. More hands off. You’re worse than I am for wanting to see what’s going on. 🤣
Definitely.

Gonna get some sanitary stuff for em and attempt it soon.

Set it and forget it

just a hypothetical here 😉😉

Say your tote is ready to fruit, BUT you’re gonna be out of town for a 36hrs and no one would be available to open the containers and fan 3 times a day….should a person in that situation wait till they’re back to begin the fruiting process?
If so is there any danger in letting the mycelium continue to grow/feed that extra week without fruiting?
I would assume you would get less flushes cause the mycelium fed for longer (consuming available nutrients) without fruiting…

I believe you can get sufficient FAE with an air pump or a PC fan on a timer. But not sure if that is good advice at I'm very new to this

Me too ... I've got a couple of successful runs but I'm still very much in learning mode.

My assumption is you have plenty of nutrients available for 36-48 hrs. However, there's several ways to get around not being home. Mine are in a small tent on a shelf. I have a humidifier running on a controller, and a fan running 24/7. Once I move to fruiting, I simply remove the lid and allow the airflow.

Innoculated 2/3 nights ago

Already colonizing.

Uncle Ben's hey? I've thought about trying that. Have you had much success with it before?
Honestly I'd probably be the worse to ask as my first few attempts were not very procedurally sterile.

I have had them colonize multiple times no problem.

Due to my own negligence, have I had infections and not been all the way through to harvest with them yet. - and as I am entirely new to the whole deal, I don't take it too seriously at first as I'm learning it all - what you can/can't/should not do/why/what you can get away with.

However, if done properly sterile methods, they are probably the easiest and simplest.

1. Innoculat them however you do, supposed to cover the hole with pore tape, (I've not bought pore tape) cut corners off and put micropore tape over as well for breathing and preventing contam. caution on how much inoculant to use - not all bags have the same moisture content.

2. Once fully colonized - I believe you can/( others have) just rip the top part open/off and they will fruit straight from the bag.

Literal "90second" shrooms.

Set it and forget it - ez bake.

Im going to leave this bag alone untill fully colonized and then rip the top off and fruit from bag, or attempt to.

Keep it sterile and simple, the new KISS, lol.

I think MiGs first bag was a success - inoculated then "bulk" substrate/spawn

You could probably easily buy a bunch, innoculate and put em away, rip tops off in a month or so and you'll have fruiting bodies, not much hassle.

If this works I'll probably try that ^

Never tried it without mixing with a bulk substrate. Always had good luck with simple shoeboxes of coco and vermiculite to mix the spawn into.
A couple pics of my last KSSS shoebox crop. They were one of my favorites for sure.

My first run (Creepers) was the Uncle Ben's tek. It worked just fine for spawning. Once the spawning was complete, I used a bulk substrate made from coco and vermiculite. It was my first run. It's a good place to start I suppose but since then I have moved on to making my own spawning media using rye berry grain, gypsum, and a few other ingredients and sterilizing it in my insta-pot.

I've got 4 jars of P. Natalensis that I'll be mixing with substrate probably this weekend.

How much grain can you fit in the instant pot? I've got one but I don't think I could fit more than 4 pint jars in it. Usually used my bigger PC that holds like 7 quart jars, but I ended up with so many mushrooms it was overkill. Thinking the Instant pot might be the ticket for a small grow. A shoebox or two will produce more shrooms than I'll use in several years. Don't even really eat them anymore honestly, im all psyched out from eating copious amounts of shrooms and LSD since i was a teenager. But it's a fun hobby, I'd like to run another batch at some point even just for fun.

I use an extra large insta-pot. I can fit up to 7 quart jars. Last batch was 4 qts.

We aren't actually eating the mushroom tissue anymore. We're grinding them up and using a coffee maker and filter to make a water based tea. It works pretty well without worries of nausea. It's been fun but doesn't compare to the LSD trips from when I was younger.

It's all been fun so far ...

Nothing compares to the LSD trips I had when I was young either. Not even close. Those were some of my favourite experiences.
